RE-POSTED with link from REVOLT DAILY ~ Guns and Butter ~

Guns and Butter

gunsbutterSyria.  Everybody has an opinion.  To intervene, to remain isolationist, to arm rebels, to promote a diplomatic solution, to work through proxies… the list evolves daily.  The president has made his case for intervention to US and International lawmakers; members of congress have held classified and unclassified briefings and are engaged in seemingly endless debate before they decide on the matter.  So I’m not going to offer an opinion one way on another on intervention.  Rather, I will discuss an angle of the conflict that hasn’t received much attention.
I spend a large percentage of my academic time connecting the actions of women in revolutions and guerilla organizations to theories of conflict negotiation, state stability and civil war recidivism.
