We c...So many thought-provoking points, Christoph. We can know the situation from first hand experience but even that is colored by our point of view. We can know it from what the government and media choose to share - or not share. The spread of the Spanish Flu in 1918 was made infinitely worse, for instance, because the Government elected to position it as 'just a flu like we have every year' and to censor info about the severity. We can know history from reading books decades after the fact, though each of those accounts will be biased and incomplete. You summed it up beautifully - "history is a living process."
